Horizon Books has been family owned and operated since 1961 in Northern Michigan, opening in Petoskey in a small, upstairs location in 1967. We’ve always been downtown, growing and expanding to our present location on Mitchell Street, which has a coffee bar, plenty of seating and long hours to serve you. Bob Brill is our manager and he’s gathered an extraordinary staff with a depth of knowledge and a wide variety of interests. Everyone is eager to assist you in your own quest for that perfect book to add to your collection.
We view it as our job to say yes to what the Northern Michigan community wants in a bookstore – reading groups, music, helpful staff, outstanding selection, convenient (did we mention loooong) hours, support of local authors and a welcoming atmosphere. We hope you consider us to be your “third place,” the place you go to relax, the first being home, the second being work.
