This American Life at the State Theater

Traverse City is fortunate enough to be one of the few theaters in the country to simulcast NPR’s This American Life hosted by Ira Glass at the State Theater. After enjoying the program, be sure to stop by for Glass’ latest book, The New Kings of Non-Fiction.

The Children’s Book Council has revamped their annual Children’s Book Week to reflect the changes in both publishing and the tastes of young readers.  New this year will be a readers’ choice award  voted on by kids themselves hosted by popular children’s author, Jon Scieszka.

Horizon Books is proud to be a part of a very special event.  Two of the most popular characters in children’s literature and on WCMU public television will be paying a visit to the Children’s Museum.  Tickets for this event are $6 per person, ages two and up.

The beloved children’s story If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff will be brought to the stage by Children’s Theater.  Bring the family to see these young stars make their debut at the eautifully restored Traverse City Opera House.

Horizon Books is proud to present an evening of Don Julin and 88 Strings. A collection of his students from all levels will entertain in a show open to the public.  These are some talented students, so come down, have a cuppa joe, browse books, and mellow out with some jazz, bluegrass, and even a few tunes from Don Julin himself.
