Local Authors with Local Color: Marina Call, Lisa Maxbauer Price, & A.V. Walters

Authors come with various talents and wearing different hats. Engage with local authors, doing things other than the writing that normally brings them into the book store.

Marina Call, debut novelist of EASTBOUND, I THINK will be giving chess lessons. In her book based in Portugal and Spain, we meet Oscar on a train who learns to play chess during his coming-of-age journey. Marina lived in Europe for 8 years where she was a Tour Guide and became slightly obsessed with trains.  Meet Marina, learn a little chess and get some advice on planning your next European adventure.

Lisa Maxbauer Price, author of the award-winning children's book SQUASH BOOM BEET, will be in the lower level of Horizon Books leading a community pumpkin carving event. She loves when kids are adventurous with their food. So bring your family and come explore some gourds with kid-friendly carving tools. It's time to play with your food!

A.V. Walters will be doing author readings---that is, reading your cards. In a fun twist on the usual author reading event, Walters will be a gypsy fortune-teller, mining your future through Cartouche cards.  A.V. has two novels, EMMA CAITES WAY and THE GIFT OF GUYLAINE CLAIRE.
